]]> http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-sign-lb-zac-diles/feed/ 0 The Tennessee Titans picked DE Scott Solomon in the 7th round http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-de-scott-solomon-in-the-7th-round/ http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-de-scott-solomon-in-the-7th-round/#comments Wed, 02 May 2012 20:03:22 +0000 admin http://www.titanslocker.com/?p=762 The Tennessee Titans selected DE Scott Solomon out of Rice with the 211th overall pick (7th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft.  Solomon is 6’3″, 262 pounds and he runs a 4.8 40.  Solomon’s motor is always full throttle as he plays hard on every play.  That is his biggest asset as he’s a little to slow to play LB and a little to small to play DE full time.  That being said, it’s hard to underestimate a guy that plays with the heart that Solomon does.  Solomon played in 12 games (all starts) for Rice last year and he had 55 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, he broke up 1 pass and he forced 1 fumble.  Solomon played in 47 games (45 starts) in his four years at Rice and he had 207 tackles, 44 tackles for a loss, 24 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 4 batted down balls and 1 pass broken up.  This was a nice flier for the Titans to take as Solomon might be able to help them with the pass rush.

]]> http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-de-scott-solomon-in-the-7th-round/feed/ 0 The Tennessee Titans picked free safety Markelle Martin in the 6th round http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-free-safety-markelle-martin-in-the-6th-round/ http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-free-safety-markelle-martin-in-the-6th-round/#comments Wed, 02 May 2012 19:54:05 +0000 admin http://www.titanslocker.com/?p=760 The Tennessee Titans selected free safety Markelle Martin out of Oklahoma State with the 190th overall pick (6th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft.  Martin had a knee injury after the Senior Bowl which caused his stock to fall as he was projected to be picked in the 3rd or 4th round.  Martin is a solid playmaking type of center fielder.  He would rather go for the kill shot than pick off a pass and that could be a problem in the NFL.  I’m sure the Titans’ coaches are going to try to get him to change quite a bit before they trust him on the field.  Martin played in 13 games (all starts) for Oklahoma State last year and he had 74 tackles, 11 passes broken up, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.  He played in 48 games (37 starts) in his four years with the Cowboys and he had 178 tackles, 36 passes broken up, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.  This was a solid pick for the Titans as Martin could develop into a starter down the road.

]]> http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-free-safety-markelle-martin-in-the-6th-round/feed/ 0 The Tennessee Titans picked TE Taylor Thompson in the 5th round http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-te-taylor-thompson-in-the-5th-round/ http://www.titanslocker.com/2012/05/02/the-tennessee-titans-picked-te-taylor-thompson-in-the-5th-round/#comments Wed, 02 May 2012 19:47:45 +0000 admin http://www.titanslocker.com/?p=758 The Tennessee Titans selected TE Taylor Thompson out of SMU with the 145th overall pick (5th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft.  Thompson is a big target at 6’6″, 259 pounds and he runs a 4.85 40.  The problem with Thompson is that he hasn’t played TE since high school.  He played at DE at SMU.  He played in 13 games for SMU last year and he had 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks and he forced six fumbles.  Thompson played in 50 games in his four years at SMU and he had 139 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 18 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and 6 batted balls.  This really wreaks of a big time reach for the Titans.  But, if Thompson fails as a TE, he could always return to the defensive side of the ball.
