The Titans pushed the Packers around in the game last night.  Kerry Collins threw three incomplete passes before he took a seat.  Vince Young was very effective in this game as he completed 7 of 12 passes for 85 yards with 1 TD pass.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 38 yards (7.6 ypc) with a TD.  Patrick Ramsey finished up the game completing 5 of 8 passes for 82 yards with a TD pass.  Chris Henry led the Titans in rushing in this game with 54 yards rushing on 14 carries (3.9 ypc).  Dominique Edison had a monster game at WR catching 5 passes for 90 yards (18.0 avg) with 2 TDs.  The Titans finished up with 338 total yards in this game (174 rushing, 164 passing).

Linebacker Gerald McRath led the way for the Titans on D with 7 tackles.  The Packers finished up with only 240 total yards on offense (87 rushing, 153 passing) in this game.  The Titans finished up the pre-season with a 3-2 record.

The Titans just didn’t play well enough to win this game Saturday Night in Cleveland.  Kerry Collins started the game and he was efficient completing 11 of 14 passes for 102 yards with 1 TD pass.  Vince Young played the rest of the game and he was mostly good completing 17 of 24 passes for 174 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  The pickoff was returned 11 yards for a TD by Browns’ LB Alex Hall.  Young also carried the ball 2 times for 20 yards (10.0 ypc).  Chris Johnson led the Titans in rushing in this game with 27 yards on 7 carries (3.9 ypc).  Justin Gage led the way in the passing game for the Titans against the Browns as he caught 6 passes for 57 yards (9.5 avg) with 1 TD.  The Titans finished up with 355 total yards in this game (83 rushing, 272 passing).

CB Jason McCourty (9 tackles) and S Michael Griffin (5 tackles, sack) led the way for the Titans’ D in this game.  The Browns finished up with 312 total yards on offense (75 rushing, 237 passing) in this game.

Dallas Cowboys 30, Tennessee Titans 10

The Titans fell to 2-1 on the preseason with the beating they took in Dallas last Friday Night.  Kerry Collins was solid in this game completing 8 of 11 passes for 55 yards with 1 TD pass.  But the rest of the QB play was pathetic in this game.  Vince Young was next up and he completed only 3 of 9 passes for 33 yards with a interception.  Patrick Ramsey finished up the game and he wasn’t much better completing only 3 of 10 passes for 52 yards.  Javon Ringer led the Titans in rushing again in this game with 33 yards on 5 carries (6.6 ypc).  Rookie TE Jared Cook led the way in the passing game again for the Titans with 3 catches for 34 yards (11.3 avg).  Justin Gage pitched in with 2 grabs for 27 yards (13.5 avg) with a TD.  The Titans only finished up with 191 yards of total offense (51 rushing, 140 passing) in this game and they only had possession of the football for 19:03 of the game!  This was a putrid display of offense by the Titans.

Linebacker Keith Bulluck led a terrible effort by the Titans’ defensive players with 7 tackles in this game.  The Titans did hold the Cowboys to only 3.2 ypc despite giving up 111 yards rushing.  But, the pass defense was terrible as the Cowboys completed 32 of 45 passes for 355 yards.  I know this is only the preseason but this was a truly awful effort from the Titans.

Tennessee Titans 27, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

The Titans had another solid game last Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the preseason.  Kerry Collins started this game and he did not look good completing 4 of 9 passes for 37 yards with 2 pickoffs.  Vince Young followed Collins into this game and he was outstanding completing 9 of 14 passes for 131 yards with 1 TD pass.  Patrick Ramsey finished up this game completing 4 of 6 passes for 30 yards.  The Titans’ offensive rookies looked outstanding in this game as Javon Ringer, Kenny Britt and Jared Cook all stood out.  Ringer led the Titans in rushing with 51 yards on 7 carries (7.3 ypc) which was a 36-yarder.  WR Kenny Britt led the Titans in receiving in this game with 89 yards on 5 receptions (17.8 avg) with a TD.  TE Jared Cook added six receptions for 56 yards (9.3 avg) in this game.  The Titans finished up with 278 total yards on offense (92 rushing, 186 passing).

The Titans had some trouble stopping the run as the Bucs rolled up 138 yards rushing (5.3 ypc).  But, the Bucs only passed for 118 yards so the Titans’ pass D was outstanding again.  Linebacker Gerald McRath (8 tackles) and CB Ryan Mouton (2 tackles, game deciding 29 yard interception return for TD) led the way for the Titans’ defense in this game.

Tennessee Titans 21, Buffalo Bills 18

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pre-Season by admin on Monday 10 August 2009 at 5:57 am

Despite the score looking close the Titans were pretty impressive last night in the Hall of Fame Game.  The Titans built a 21-6 lead at the half as the offense, defense and special teams were all outstanding.  Kerry Collins started the game and he looked sharp completing 7 of 10 passes for 82 yards.  Vince Young replaced Collins in the 2nd quarter and he was so-so.  He completed 5 of 10 passes for 39 yards with a TD pass (5 yarder to Paul Williams) and a interception.  Patrick Ramsey was also effective completing 8 of 10 passes for 72 yards.  Alex Mortensen finished up the game and he didn’t look good as he threw a pick six to Bills’ cornerback Reggie Corner.  Chris Henry led the Titans’ in rushing last night with 23 yards on 6 carries (3.8 ypc).  LenDale White only rushed for 12 yards on six carries (2.0 ypc) with a TD run.  TE Alge Crumpler was the leading receiver for the Titans last night with 32 yards on 3 receptions.  The biggest play for the Titans last night though came on special teams as rookie punter A.J. Trapasso scored on a 40-yard run on a fake punt.  The Titans only had 271 yards on offense despite Trapasso’s 40-yard run so they have some work to do before the season starts in September.

The defense was outstanding for the Titans last night as they held the Bills to 247 total yards of offense.  Linebacker Stanford Keglar was all over the field as he led the Titans with six tackles.  Safety Michael Griffin and CB Jason McCourty each picked off a pass last night.

This game was only close because the Bills had a better third and fourth team which won’t be a issue when the regular season starts.

The Titans treated this game like a real tune-up as they even faked a punt that safety Vincent Fuller ran for a 40-yard TD.  Vince Young had a so-so effort as he completed 13 of 27 passes for 134 yards.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 57 yards (19.0 ypc).  Kerry Collins also had a so-so game completing 5 of 7 passes for 61 yards with 1 interception.  Ingle Martin finished up this game completing 1 of 4 passes for 8 yards.  LenDale White led the Titans in rushing in this game with 55 yards on 16 carries (3.4 ypc).  Chris Henry pitched in with 24 yards on 10 carries (2.4 ypc) against the Packers.  Rookie RB Chris Johnson was also very busy as he carried the ball 8 times for 24 yards (3.0 ypc) with a TD run (1-yarder).  He also caught 4 passes for 46 yards (11.5 avg) against the Packers.  Justin McCareins was the leading receiver for the Titans in this game as he had 79 yards on 3 grabs (26.3 avg).  The Titans played keepaway in this game as they had possession of the football for 36:45.  The Titans finished up with 206 yards rushing on 40 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 38 passes for 197 yards.

Linebacker Stanford Kegler led the way for the Titans in this game with 6 tackles.  Fellow linebackers Stephen Tulloch (4 tackles, fumble recovery) and Colin Allred (3 tackles, fumble recovery) also had solid games against the Packers.  The Titans rolled up six sacks in this football game.  The Packers finished up with 116 yards rushing on 22 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 26 passes for 150 yards.  The Titans finish the preseason with a 3-1 record and they hope the momentum they have built carries into the regular season.

Atlanta Falcons 17, Tennessee Titans 3

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pre-Season by admin on Saturday 23 August 2008 at 12:54 pm

The Tennessee Titans got pushed around last night by the Falcons in Atlanta.  Vince Young had another subpar game as he completed 9 of 18 passes for 102 yards with a interception.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 16 yards.  Kicker John Vaughn nailed a 50-yard field goal on a drive led by Young which was the only points the Titans put on the scoreboard.  Kerry Collins was pathetic last night as he only completed 1 of 8 passes for 20 yards.  Ingle Martin finished up the game for the Titans last night completing 3 of 6 passes for 35 yards.  Charles Johnson led the Titans’ in rushing last night with 35 yards on 11 carries (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards (11.5 avg).  Justin Gage pitched in with 2 receptions for 23 yards last night.  The Titans finished up with 75 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 32 passes for only 140 yards last night.  The Titans only had possession of the football for 23:54 last night and it’s hard to win a football game that way.

Safety Donnie Nickey and conerbacks Reynaldo Hill and Cortland Finnegan led the way for the Titans’ defense last night with 5 tackles apiece.  The Falcons rushed for 145 yards on 30 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 32 passes for 175 yards.  The Titans need to get there act together soon as the regular season starts in two weeks.

Rookie RB Chris Johnson is putting pressure on LenDale White for the starting gig at RB for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pre-Season by admin on Saturday 16 August 2008 at 10:30 pm

Rookie Chris Johnson has been outstanding this preseason as he is applying pressure to LenDale White of the Titans for the featured role in the running game.  Johnson has carried the football 14 times for 123 yards (8.8 ypc) with 1 TD run this preseason.  Johnson is a lot faster than White, but, White has a lot more Power than Johnson.  LenDale White has carried the football 14 times for 72 yards (5.1 ypc) this preseason.  Look for Johnson and White to share the job early in the regular season.

Tennessee Titans 17, Oakland Raiders 16

The Titans won the football game last night but they didn’t really play that well especially on defense where they gave up 380 yards.  The Titans won the game on a last second field goal by John Vaughn covering 33 yards.  Fullback Ahmard Hall also had a huge play in this game on special teams when he scored a TD by recovering a Johnnie Lee Higgins’ fumble in the end zone.

Vince Young was terrible last night as he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.  He completed only 4 of 13 passes for only 37 yards last night.  Kerry Collins was just a tad better than Young completing only 4 of 15 passes for 109 yards with a 51-yard TD strike to rookie Lavelle Hawkins.  Third stringer Ingle Martin led the Titans on the game winning drive last night as he was 6 of 11 for 103 yards.  Rookie RB Charles Johnson looked special again last night leading the Titans’ in rushing with 46 yards on 8 carries (5.8 ypc).  LenDale White also looked pretty good last night rushing for 39 yards on 8 carries (4.9 ypc).  Chris Henry pitched in with 28 yards rushing on 5 carries (5.6 ypc) last night.  Rookie WR Lavelle Hawkins had a good game with 2 grabs for 70 yards (35.0 avg) including a 51-yard TD reception.  Biren Ealy pitched in with 3 catches for 50 yards (16.7 avg) and TE Bo Scaife caught 3 passes for 40 yards (13.3 avg).  The Titans finished up with 140 yards rushing on 26 carries (5.4 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 39 passes for 228 yards.

The Titans’ defense did not look good last night despite only giving up 16 points.  Linebacker Stanford Keglar led the way for the Titans last night with 8 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Linebacker Stephen Tulloch and safety Vincent Fuller each pitched in with 7 tackles apiece.  The Raiders finished up with 224 yards rushing on 37 carries (6.1 ypc) last night.  They also completed 17 of 28 passes for 156 yards.

The Tennessee Titans kicked the Rams’ butts up and down the field last Saturday Night.  Vince Young made a brief appearance and he completed 3 of 6 passes for 17 yards and he also carried the ball 1 time for 35 yards.  Kerry Collins got the most playing time of the QBs as he completed 7 of 16 passes for 105 yards.  Ingle Martin finished up the game completing 3 of 4 passes for 39 yards.  The Titans had 6 players rush for at least 33 yards in this game and the player with the most was Quinton Ganther who rushed for 115 yards on 8 carries (14.4 ypc) with 2 TD runs (45 yards, 2 yards).  Chris Johnson was also outstanding in his NFL debut as he carried the ball 6 times for 77 yards (12.8 ypc) with 1 TD run (66 yards).  Chris Henry pitched in with 38 yards rushing on 9 carries (4.2 ypc).  Omar Cuff was also busy with 33 yards on 9 carries (3.7 ypc).  LenDale White started out the game and he rushed the ball 6 times for 33 yards (5.5 ypc).  TE James Petrowski led Titans’ receivers with 43 yards on 2 receptions (21.5 avg).  The Titans finished this game with an amazing 340 yards rushing on 43 carries (7.9 ypc).  They also completed 13 of 26 passes for 155 yards as they held onto the football for a stunning 34:41 in this game!

The Titans’ defense was also impressive on Saturday Night.  CB Eric King (5 tackles) and safety Vincent Fuller (5 tackles, sack) led the way for the defense.  Outside linebacker Keith Bulluck only had 2 tackles on the night but he returned a interception off of Marc Bulger 13 yards for a TD.  The Rams finished up with 76 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.8 ypc).  They also completed 17 of 31 passes for 165 yards against the Titans.  This was a very good all around effort for the Titans in the preseason opener.
