The Tennessee Titans have placed 28-year old center Eugene Amano on the Injured Reserve List due to a shoulder injury.  Amano played in 13 games (all starts) for the Titans this year and he has played in 108 games (52 starts) in his first seven years in the NFL.  The Titans will turn to 25-year old Fernando Velasco to replace Amano at center the rest of the year.  Velasco has played in 13 games (1 start) for the Titans so far this year and he has played in 14 games (1 start) in his first two years with the Titans.  The Titans are likely going to miss Amano quite a bit in the last three games of the year.

The Tennessee Titans lose Vince Young for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Disabled LIst by admin on Friday 26 November 2010 at 3:11 pm

The Titans have lost 27-year old QB Vince Young for the rest of the season due to a torn tendon in his right thumb which will require surgery to repair.  This makes Young look dumber than he did last Sunday.  After the game he abruptly left the field, throwing his jersey and shoulder pads into the stands.  He then was running his mouth when head coach Jeff Fisher was addressing the team in the locker room.  Young then started to walk away and Fisher told him not to quit on his team.  Young then responded by saying that he was quitting on Fisher…not the team.  Young then tried to apologize by texting Jeff Fisher.  Come on Vince, that’s what a little girl would do.  Be a man and apologize face to face so maybe you can put this behind you.

Young played in 9 games this season for the Titans and he completed 93 of 156 passes for 1,255 yards with 10 TD passes and 3 INTs (98.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 25 times for 125 yards (5.0 ypc) this year.  While he was playing well this year he has been a sub par QB in his career so far and the numbers show that.  Young has played in 54 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has completed 689 of 1,190 passes (57.9%) for 8,098 yards with 42 TD passes and 42 INTs (75.7 QB Rating).  Young has also carried the ball 264 times for 1,380 yards (5.2 ypc) with 12 TD runs in his career.  Vince Young had better grow up soon or he’s never going to get back out of the Dog House.

The Tennessee Titans lose Kerry Collins for a while

The Titans will be without 37-year old QB Kerry Collins for several weeks due to a calf injury.  Collins has played in 5 games for the Titans this season and he has completed 62 of 107 passes (57.9%) for 638 yards with 5 TD passes and 3 INTs (79.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 3 times for -2 yards (-0.7 ypc) this year.  It will be up to Vince Young to lead the Titans to the playoffs if they are going to make it there.

The Tennessee Titans lose Kenny Britt for a while

The Titans will be without 22-year old WR Kenny Britt for the next 6-8 weeks due to a hamstring injury.  Britt has played in 8 games for the Titans so far this year and he has caught 23 passes for 434 yards (18.9 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  He has now played in 24 games in parts of two years with the Titans and he has caught 65 passes for 1,135 yards (17.5 avg) with 10 TD grabs.  This injury definitely led to the claiming of Randy Moss this week.

The Tennessee Titans place linebacker Jamie Winborn on I.R.

The Titans have placed 31-year old linebacker Jamie Winborn on the Injured Reserve List with a shoulder injury.  Winborn played in 6 games for the Titans this year and he had 12 tackles.  In parts of two years for the Titans, Winborn played in 8 games making 14 tackles.  This will hurt the depth at linebacker for the Titans going forward.

The Tennessee Titans place Colin Allred on I.R.

The Titans have placed 27-year old linebacker Colin Allred on the Injured Reserve List with a neck injury.  Allred played in 5 games for the Titans this year and he had 5 tackles.  Allred has now played in 32 games in his four years with the Titans and he has 46 tackles.  This injury will hurt the Titans’ depth at linebacker and the special teams a bit.

The Tennessee Titans will be without Justin Gage this weekend

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Disabled LIst by admin on Friday 8 October 2010 at 9:01 pm

Starting WR Justin Gage is going to miss Sunday’s game with the Cowboys due to a hamstring injury.  Gage has played in all 4 games for the Titans this year and he has caught 9 passes for 143 yards (15.9 avg).  Gage will be replaced in the starting lineup by second year man Kenny Britt.  Britt has played in 4 games for the Titans so far this year and he has caught 9 passes for 90 yards (10.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Britt should do a good job but the Titans hope Gage returns soon because they don’t have a lot of depth at WR.

The Tennessee Titans lose Derrick Morgan for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,The Disabled LIst by admin on Tuesday 5 October 2010 at 1:49 pm

The Tennessee Titans have lost rookie DE Derrick Morgan for the year due to a torn ACL.  Morgan played in 4 games for the Titans this year and he had 5 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 pass defensed.  This will hurt the Titans a little bit this year as they were rotating Morgan into games to break him in.  This hurts the depth of the Titans at DE.

The Tennessee Titans lose Jason McCourty for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,The Disabled LIst by admin on Tuesday 28 September 2010 at 4:58 pm

The Titans have lost starting cornerback Jason McCourty for the next 3-4 weeks after he had surgery today to repair a forearm that he fractured against the Giants last week.  McCourty has played in 3 games so far this year for the Titans and he has 15 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Rookie 4th round pick Alterraun Verner will replace McCourty in the starting lineup while he is out of action.  Verner has played in 3 games for the Titans so far this season and he has 10 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 fumble recovery.  Verner has played well every since he was drafted as he had a stellar pre-season and he has done a good job as a reserve the first three weeks of the regular season for the Titans.  I don’t expect that to change just because he’s in the starting lineup.

The Tennessee Titans place David Thornton on the reserve/PUP list

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,The Disabled LIst by admin on Saturday 4 September 2010 at 11:56 am

The Titans have placed 31-year old linebacker David Thornton on the reserve/PUP list which will cause him to miss at least the first six weeks of the season.  Thornton played in 11 games for the Titans last season and he made 59 tackles, had 1 sack and he forced 1 fumble.  Thornton has played in 58 games (55 starts) in his four years with the Titans and he has 366 tackles, 2 sacks, 17 passes defensed, 2 interceptions and 6 forced fumbles.  This is a big loss for the Titans as Thornton is one of the better linebackers on the team.
