Tony Brown is playing well for the Tennessee Titans this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 24 December 2009 at 11:05 am

Defensive tackle Tony Brown has stepped up and played pretty well for the Titans this season.  He has played in 14 games for the Titans this year and he has 37 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and he has defensed 1 pass.  Brown is leading the Titans in sacks this season as they have had a hard time getting much of a pass rush going which has led to them giving up 265.1 yards passing per game.  But, you can’t blame that on Brown who is doing his part.

Chris Johnson is having a remarkable year for the Tennessee Titans

Chris Johnson is having one of the best seasons ever in the NFL.  He has played in 14 games in which he has carried the ball 301 times for 1,730 yards (5.7 ypc) with 11 TD runs and he has also caught 44 passes for 446 yards (10.1 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Even early in the year when the Titans were having trouble throwing the ball and Johnson was facing extra defenders in the box he was still getting his yards.  He has averaged 155.4 yards from scrimmage this season and 6.3 yards every time he has touched the football showing just how electrifying he is.

Keith Bulluck just keeps rolling along for the Tennessee Titans

32-year old linebacker Keith Bulluck just isn’t acting his age as he has been dominating so far this year.  Bulluck has played in 13 games for the Titans this season and he has 103 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 7 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  He has now played 10 years for the Titans appearing in 156 games in which he has made 1,052 tackles, 68 passes defensed, 18 sacks, 15 forced fumbles and 19 interceptions (one of which he returned for a TD).  Bulluck is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down this season.

Vince Young has turned his career and the Tennessee Titans’ season around

Since owner Bud Adams got his wish to start Vince Young at QB the Titans are 5-0 after starting the season 0-6.  The 26-year old Young has played in 7 games (5 starts) for the Titans so far this season and he has completed 83 of 132 passes (62.9%) for 1,010 yards with 4 TD passes and 2 INTs (90.2 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 40 times for 159 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run this season.  You have to wonder if this is a mirage or if Vince Young is capable of playing like this the rest of the year.  The reason I kind of doubt that he can keep playing like he is right now is because he has never shown anything like this in the past.  He has now played in 40 games for the Titans in his career in which he has completed 527 of 907 passes (58.1%) for 5,974 yards with 26 TD passes and 34 INTs (71.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 224 times for 1,133 yards (5.1 ypc) with 11 TD runs in his career.  It will be interesting to see if Young can deliver on his promise of getting his team to the playoffs or not.

Chris Johnson is taking his game to another level this season for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 23 November 2009 at 1:34 pm

24-year old Chris Johnson has been playing so well this season that LenDale White has not got on the field much this year.  Johnson will likely get a lot of votes for the MVP Award in the NFL if he keeps playing at this pace.  Johnson has played in 9 games for the Titans so far this season and he has carried the ball 170 times for 1,091 yards (6.4 ypc) with 8 TD runs.  He has also caught 30 passes for 262 yards (8.7 avg) with 1 TD grab this year.  With the Texans having issues stopping the run, Johnson is in line to have a huge game for the Titans tonight.  Johnson has now played in 24 games in his two years with the Titans and he has carried the ball 421 times for 2,319 yards (5.5 ypc) with 17 TD runs.  He has also caught 73 passes for 522 yards (7.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs in his career.  The amazing thing to me is that Johnson dropped all the way to the Titans two years ago in the NFL Draft as a lot of teams have to be kicking themselves for passing on this guy.

Stephen Tulloch is playing well this season for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Grudge Match,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 28 October 2009 at 9:31 pm

24-year old linebacker Stephen Tulloch has been outstanding for the Titans this season.  In 6 games this year, Tulloch has made 57 tackles, has 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss and he has defensed 1 pass.  Teaming with Keith Bulluck has really given the Titans a pretty rugged run defense this season.  Too bad they can’t stop the pass.

You can’t blame Keith Bulluck for the poor defense of the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 17 October 2009 at 12:12 pm

Veteran middle linebacker Keith Bulluck is having another outstanding season for the Titans.  He has 41 tackles (2nd on team), 1 tackle for a loss, he has defensed 1 pass and he has 1 interception (23 yard return) so far this season.  The Titans only allow 75.4 yards rushing per game and 2.8 yards per carry this season which is amazing!  It’s too bad that the pass defense can’t play a little better as the front seven is doing there part to make the D successful.

Justin Gage might be ready to truly breakout this season for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 18 September 2009 at 9:43 am

28-year old WR Justin Gage was outstanding against the Steelers last Thursday catching 7 passes for 78 yards (11.1 avg) with a TD grab.  The Titans might pass the ball a little more this season than last so this could be the year that Gage truly breaks out.  Gage has now played in 78 games in his NFL career and he has caught 160 passes for 2,387 yards (14.9 avg) with 13 TD grabs.  This could be Gage’s year to shine for the Titans.
