Nate Washington is stepping up for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 29 September 2011 at 3:12 pm

28-year old WR Nate Washington is now the #1 WR for the Titans going forward due to the season ending injury to Kenny Britt.  Washington has played in all 3 games for the Titans so far this year and he has caught 21 passes for 258 yards (12.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He has career highs of 47 grabs for 687 yards with 6 TD grabs, and he’s likely to smash all of those numbers by Week #10 this year if he can just stay healthy.  Matt Hasselbeck likes throwing to Washington, so this is going to be the breakout year that the Steelers were waiting so long out of him.

Matt Hasselbeck has the Tennessee Titans thinking big

35-year old QB Matt Hasselbeck has the Titans thinking big.  He has played in both of the Titans games so far and he has completed 51 of 76 passes (67.1%) for 621 yards with 3 TD passes and 2 INTs (94.2 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 1 time for 9 yards so far this year.  It looks like rookie Jake Locker is going to be watching Matt Hasselbeck for quite a while.  Hasselbeck has really covered well for RB Chris Johnson who is off to a very slow start this year.

Kenny Britt is in line to have a huge season for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 15 September 2011 at 1:07 pm

22-year old WR Kenny Britt is on the verge of being a dominating WR.  In his first two years with the Titans, Britt played in 28 games in which he caught 84 passes for 1,476 yards (17.6 avg) with 12 TD grabs.  Britt took his game to a new level last weekend against the Jaguars when he caught 5 passes for 136 yards (27.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  No one has ever questioned Britt’s talent, but he has had a lot of issues off the field.  If he can keep out of trouble this year, he’s going to have a huge season because he’s by far the best WR on the team and Matt Hasselbeck is going to throw his way a ton in 2011.

Jeff Fisher continues to be a solid leader for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 18 November 2010 at 10:00 pm

52-year old head coach Jeff Fisher always looks like the coolest head coach with his slick look.  Underneath that look is a very solid football coach who almost always seems to get the most out of his players.  He is now 141-114 (55.3%) in his 17 years with the Titans/Oilers as this is the only franchise he has ever been the head coach of.  He is #19 all-time in wins as a NFL head coach and he should pass Marv Levy (143 later this season) and Bill Cowher (149) next year.  The only blip on Fisher’s resume’ came last season when he was overruled by owner Bud Adams who wanted him to start Vince Young over Kerry Collins at QB.

The Tennessee Titans are getting solid play out of the QBs this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 5 November 2010 at 3:02 pm

27-year old Vince Young and 37-year old Kerry Collins give the Titans a very dependable and solid set of QBs.  Young has played in 7 games for the Titans this year and he has completed 72 of 122 passes (59%) for 998 yards with 9 TD passes and 2 INTs (103.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 20 times for 91 yards (4.6 ypc) so far this year.  Young’s game is rolling out and making plays with either his legs or his arm.

Kerry Collins gives the Titans a much different look as he is a classic dropback passer.  Collins has played in 4 games for the Titans so far this year and he has completed 53 of 87 passes (60.9%) for 587 yards with 5 TD passes and 3 INTs (85.8 QB Rating).  Collins has also carried the ball 3 times for -2 yards (-0.7 ypc) this year.  The Titans have defined roles for the QBs this year with Vince Young being the starter and Kerry Collins the backup so there is no controversy this season.  That being said, both QBs have been excellent this year for the Titans.

These two guys turn up the pass rush heat for the Tennessee Titans

The Titans have an amazing 24 sacks already this season and the DEs have a lot to do with that.  30-year old Jason Babin has been excellent this season with his all around game.  Babin has played in all six games for the Titans so far this year and he has 24 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks and 1 forced fumble.  29-year old Dave Ball is also off to a great start for the Titans this year.  Ball has played in all six games for the Titans this year and he has 16 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 passes defensed and 1 fumble recovery.  No one talks about Babin & Bell when mentioning impact DEs but that could change if these guys keep up the current pace.

Kenny Britt has worked his way out of the Dog House for the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 22 October 2010 at 9:27 am

Head Coach Jeff Fisher was very upset 24-year old WR Kenny Britt early this year.  An injury to Justin Gage gave 22-year old Britt a chance to get back into the good graces of his coach and Titans’ fans and that’s exactly what he has done.  Britt has played in all six games for the Titans so far this year and he has caught 16 passes for 209 yards (13.1 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He had a solid rookie year in 2009 for the Titans playing in all 16 games in which he caught 42 passes for 701 yards (16.7 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Britt has a lot of talent so he just needs to remain focused and motivated to realize his true potential.

The safeties are stepping up for the Tennessee Titans this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 1 October 2010 at 8:29 pm

Opposing QBs only have 1 TD pass so far this year and they have a 71.1 Rating against the Titans.  The safeties have had a lot to do with the success of the pass defense so far this year for the Titans.  Michael Griffin has really made a huge impact for the Titans so far this year with 29 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.  Chris Hope (19 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception) and Vincent Fuller (16 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) have also been very effective for the Titans who have three high quality safeties.  Hopefully they can all stay healthy for the Titans this year as they are playing at a very, very high level this year.

Vince Young continues his career revival with the Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 17 September 2010 at 8:46 pm

Vince Young looked like his career was nearing and end before last season due to off-field problems and his performance on the field.  He made a huge comeback last season leading the Titans to an 8-2 record after the bye week, but, they came up short of the playoffs with a 8-8 record.  Young was very impressive in the season opener last week against the Raiders.  He completed 13 of 17 passes (76.5%) for 154 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs (142.8 QB Rating).  Young also carried the ball 7 times for 30 yards (4.3 ypc) last week for the Titans.  The Steelers will pose a challenge to Young this week and it will be interesting to see how well he plays.

Titans’ RB Chris Johnson has won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award in the NFL.  He played in all 16 games for the Titans this season and he carried the ball 358 for 2,006 yards (5.6 ypc) with 14 TD runs and he also caught 50 passes for 503 yards (10.1 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Johnson finished with the 5th highest rushing total in NFL history as he became only the sixth player to ever rush for over 2,000 yards in one season.  He is also now the all-time leader in total yards from scrimmage with 2,569 total yards.
