The Titans have waived 25-year old fullback Quinn Johnson.  Johnson played in all four games for the Titans this year but he didn’t get any carries.  Johnson did catch 3 passes for 30 yards (10.0 avg) for the Titans.  31-year old Ahmard Hall is back from his suspension and just in a nick of time.  The Titans are only averaging 66.8 yards rushing per game so far this year and 2.8 yards per carry.  The Titans are hoping that Hall’s return jumpstarts Chris Johnson’s season.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 7:44 pm

The Titans have released 30-year old WR Justin Gage.  Gage played in 11 games (4 starts) for the Titans last year and he had 20 grabs for 266 yards (13.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He played in 51 games (33 starts) in his four years with the Titans and he caught 137 passes for 2,050 yards (15.0 avg) with 12 TD grabs.  Gage is going to hook on with another team in 2011, but the Titans wanted to go in a new direction at WR.

The Tennessee Titans have waived DE Jacob Ford

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 7:41 pm

The Titans have waived 28-year old DE Jacob Ford.  Ford played in 14 games for the Titans last year and he had 42 tackles, 3 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss and 1 forced fumble.  Ford played in 43 games in his three years with the Titans and he has 90 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 15.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed.  Some team is going to snap Ford right up, and the Titans might regret cutting him down the road.

The Tennessee Titans release safety Vincent Fuller

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 7:11 pm

The Titans have released 29-year old safety Vincent Fuller.  Fuller played in 12 games for the Titans last year and he had 33 tackles, 1 interception, 2 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  Fuller played in 73 games in his five years with the Titans and he had 163 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 16 passes defensed and 6 interceptions (he returned 4 of them for TDs).  The Titans are going in a different direction at safety, but Fuller shouldn’t be out of work too long.

The Tennessee Titans release LB Rennie Curran

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 2:26 am

The Titans have released 22-year old linebacker Rennie Curran.  Curran was a 3rd round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Titans who have quickly soured on him.  He played in 9 games as a rookie for the Titans last year and he had a whopping 7 tackles.  Curran better shape up with his next team or he will have to start looking for a real job.  This is no loss whatsoever for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans waive PR/KR Yamon Figurs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 2:23 am

The Titans have waived 29-year old WR/return man Yamon Figurs.  Figurs has played in 31 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has caught 5 passes for 103 yards (20.6 avg) with 1 TD catch.  He has also returned 42 punts for 340 yards (8.1 avg) and 85 kickoffs for 1,956 yards (23.0 avg) with 1 TD return.  The Titans have young return men that they like better than Figurs, so his release comes as little surprise.

The Tennessee Titans release DT Jovan Haye

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Monday 29 August 2011 at 6:04 pm

The Titans have released 29-year old DT Jovan Haye.  Haye played in 14 games for the Titans last year and he had 31 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  He played in 29 games in his two years with the Titans and he had 63 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1/2 a sack and 1 pass defensed.  The Titans should be able to cover for Haye pretty easily as he didn’t make many big plays the last couple of years.

The Tennessee Titans officially release QB Vince Young

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Friday 29 July 2011 at 8:54 pm

Everyone knew that this move was coming as the Titans have released 28-year old QB Vince Young.  Young played in 9 games (8 starts) for the Titans last year and he completed 93 of 156 passes (59.6%) for 1,255 yards with 10 TD passes and 3 INTs (98.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 25 times for 125 yards (5.0 ypc) last year.  Young played in 54 games (47 starts) in his five years with the Titans and he completed 689 of 1,190 passes (57.9%) for 8,098 yards with 42 TD passes and 42 INTs (75.7 QB Rating).  Young also carried the ball 264 times for 1,380 yards (5.2 ypc) with 12 TD runs for the Titans.  Young was 30-17 (63.8%) as the Titans’ starting QB.  He also made it to 2 Pro Bowls but that was after a lot of other QBs backed out of the game after being elected.  This is addition by subtraction as Young often acted like a 7-year old kid in his time with the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans have released DT Tony Brown

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Friday 29 July 2011 at 6:49 pm

The Titans have released 30-year old DT Tony Brown.  Brown played in 11 games for the Titans last year and he had 22 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 3.5 sacks and 1 pass defensed.  Brown played in 5 years for the Titans appearing in 69 games in which he had 197 tackles, 20 tackles for a loss, 18 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries and he defensed 12 passes.  This was a salary cap decision and little more as Brown has been a decent player for the Titans.

Kerry Collins of the Tennessee Titans calls it a career

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 7 July 2011 at 7:41 pm

38-year old QB Kerry Collins won’t be Jake Locker’s tutor this season as he has decided to retire from the NFL.  Collins played in 9 games (7 starts) for the Titans last year and he completed 160 of 278 passes (57.6%) for 1,823 yards with 14 TD passes and 8 INTs (82.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 10 times for 1 yard (0.1 ypc) last year for the Titans.  Collins played in 42 games (32 starts) in his five years with the Titans and he completed 613 of 1,081 passes (56.7%) for 6,804 yards with 33 TD passes and 29 INTs (74.6 QB Rating).  Collins also carried the ball 32 times for 49 yards (1.3 ypc) with 1 TD run for the Titans.  The Titans were 15-17 (46.9%) when Collins started at QB and he made it to 1 Pro Bowl with the team.  Collins likely won’t be missed a whole lot as the Titans will likely bring in a younger veteran QB to mentor Jake Locker.
