The Titans were leading this game 20-16 heading into the 4th quarter but that’s when things went haywire.  The Broncos scored a TD with 1:09 left in the game to take a 23-20 lead and on the ensuing kickoff, rookie WR Marc Mariani got drilled and lost a fumble deep in Titans’ territory which the Broncos turned into a field goal to essentially seal the game.  It’s a shame that this game ended that way for Mariani as he returned 6 kickoffs for 187 yards (31.2 avg) with a 98-yard TD return.  Vince Young was so-so in this game as he completed 17 of 28 passes for 173 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 18 yards.  Chris Johnson found yards hard to come by yesterday as he rushed for only 53 yards on 19 carries (2.8 ypc) and he caught 3 passes for 11 yards.  Javon Ringer only carried the ball twice yesterday but he still rushed for 50 yards (25.0 ypc).  WRs Nate Washington (4 rec, 42 yards) and Kenny Britt (3 rec, 23 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Titans yesterday.  The Titans finished up with 121 yards rushing on 22 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 28 passes for 167 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 24:42.

LB Stephen Tulloch led a so-so effort by the Titans’ D  yesterday with 12 tackles.  Rookie QB Alterraun Verner pitched in with 11 tackles and 3 passes defensed in his first NFL start.  Safety Michael Griffin (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 INT) and DE Jason Babin (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 4 QB hits) also had solid games for the Titans’ D yesterday.  The Broncos finished up with 19 yards rushing on 20 carries (1.0 ypc) and they completed 35 of 50 passes for 308 yards.  The Titans are now 2-2 on the year.
