Tennessee Titans 23, Houston Texans 22

The Titans won this game by the smallest of margins as the Texans decided to go for two points on the last play of the game, and they were stopped.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 22 of 35 passes for 297 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Chris Johnson led the way on the ground for the Titans in this game with 61 yards rushing on 15 carries (4.1 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 49 yards (12.3 avg).  Jaime Harper pitched in with 4 carries for 19 yards (4.8 ypc) in this game.  WR Nate Washington led the way for the Titans in this game with 4 grabs for 92 yards (23.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Jared Cook (4 rec, 63 yards) and WR Donnie Avery (3 rec, 45 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Titans in this game.  The Titans finished up with 86 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 35 passes (62.9%) for 275 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 25:22.

The defense gave up a lot of yards to the Texans last Sunday.  Safety Michael Griffin (11 tackles), CB Jason McCourty (9 tackles and 3 passes defensed) and LB Colin McCarthy (8 tackles and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Titans in this game on D.  DT Jurrell Casey (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 QB hits) and safety Chris Hope (fumble recovery) also pitched in with big plays for the Titans.  The Texans finished up with 152 yards rushing on 30 carries (5.1 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 32 passes (68.8%) for 235 yards.  The Titans finished the 2011 season with a 9-7 record but they lost the tiebreaker with the Cincinnati Bengals, thus missing the playoffs.

Tennessee Titans 23, Jacksonville Jaguars 17

The Titans played a solid game as they held off the Jaguars last Saturday.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 24 of 40 passes for 350 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  Chris Johnson led the way on the ground for the Titans with 56 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.7 ypc).  Jamie Harper pitched in with 4 carries for 6 yards (1.5 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 1 pass for 5 yards.  TE Jared Cook led the way for the Titans in this game with 8 grabs for 169 yards (21.1 avg) wiht 1 TD grab.  WR Damian Williams (8 rec, 83 yards) and Nate Washington (4 rec, 71 yards) also pitched in for the Titans in this game.  The Titans rushed for 65 yards on 25 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 40 passes (60%) for 342 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:59.

Defensively, the Titans were pretty solid.  DE Derrick Morgan (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and LB Akeem Ayers (7 tackles) led the way for the Titans’ on D in this game.  Safety Michael Griffin pitched in with 2 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception.  The Jaguars finished up with 113 yards rushing on 28 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 42 passes (50%) for 187 yards.  The Titans are now 8-7 on the season and they still have a very slim chance at making the playoffs.

Indianapolis Colts 27, Tennessee Titans 13

The Tennessee Titans got ambushed in Indianapolis today by an inspired Colts team.  Matt Hasselbeck had a rough day as he completed 27 of 40 passes for 223 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs (one of which was returned 32 yards for a TD by Colts’ CB Jacob Lacey).  Jake Locker tried to bring the Titans back, but to no avail.  He completed 11 of 16 passes for 108 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 9 yards.  Chris Johnson led the way on the ground for the Titans in this game with 55 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 8 passes for 54 yards (6.8 avg).  TE Jared Cook (9 rec, 103 yards), WR Lavelle Hawkins (8 rec, 88 yards) and WR Nate Washington (7 rec, 62 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game today.  The Titans finished up with 66 yards rushing on 19 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 38 of 56 passes (67.9%) for 322 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:57.

The Titans got pushed around by the Colts, who ran the ball all over them today.  DE Dave Ball (6 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) and LB Colin McCarthy (6 tackles) led the way for the Titans on D in this game.  Safety Chris Hope pitched in with 2 tackles and 1 fumble recovery in this game for the Titans.  The Colts rushed for 205 yards on 34 carries (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 17 passes (64.7%) for 82 yards.  The Titans are now 7-7 on the year, but this loss is going to sting for a while.

New Orleans Saints 22, Tennessee Titans 17

The Titans played hard yesterday, but just not good enough to beat the Saints.  Matt Hasselbeck started at QB for the Titans yesterday and he completed 5 of 7 passes for 44 yards before leaving the game with a calf injury.  Rookie Jake Locker finished up the game and he was excellent for the most part.  He completed 13 of 29 passes for 282 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 6 times for 36 yards (6.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Chris Johnson had a rough game with 23 yards rushing on 11 carries (2.1 ypc), but he also caught 5 passes for 43 yards (8.6 avg) in this game.  WR Nate Washington led the way in the passing game for the Titans yesterday with 6 grabs for 130 yards (21.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WRs Damian Williams (2 rec, 62 yards) and Lavelle Hawkins (3 rec, 49 yards) also had solid games for the Titans yesterday.  The Titans finished up with 59 yards rushing on 17 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 36 passes (50%) for 314 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 22:27.

The defense didn’t give up a lot of points yesterday, but they had big time issues getting off the field.  CBs Alterraun Verner (11 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and Cortland Finnegan (9 tackles and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Titans on D in this game.  LB Will Witherspoon pitched in with 8 tackles in this game.  The Saints finished up with 114 yards on 26 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 36 of 47 passes (76.6%) for 323 yards in this game.  The Titans are now 7-6 on the season.

Tennessee Titans 23, Buffalo Bills 17

The Titans got back to running the ball again today and Chris Johnson was again a huge reason for the win today.  Chris Johnson carried the ball 23 times for 153 yards (6.7 ypc) with 2 TD runs in this game for the Titans.  Matt Hasselbeck was in game manager mode as he completed 16 of 25 passes for 140 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Javon Ringer pitched in with 5 carries for 21 yards (4.2 ypc) today when Chris Johnson needed a break.  WRs Damian Williams (4 rec, 62 yards) and Nate Washington (4 rec, 40 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Titans.  The Titans finished up with 187 yards rushing on 31 carries (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 25 passes (64%) for 130 yards in this game as they had possession of the ball for 28:14.

The defense played well enough when it had to for the Titans to win today.  LB Colin McCarthy led the way for the Titans on D in this game with 9 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 2 fumble recoveries.  CB Cortland Finnegan (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed) and safety Michael Griffin (6 tackles) also had solid games for the Titans today.  The Bills finished up with 97 yards rushing on 23 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 46 passes (63%) for 282 yards.  The Titans are right in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC with a 7-5 record.

Tennessee Titans 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17

The Tennessee Titans scored 13 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to beat the Bucs earlier today.  Matt Hasselbeck did not look good today as he completed 19 of 34 passes for 160 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs (one of which was returned 27-yards for an interception by CB Aqib Talib of the Bucs).  Chris Johnson had a true breakout game for the Titans today with 190 yards rushing on 23 carries (8.3 ypc)!  WR Lavelle Hawkins (5 rec, 51 yards), TE Jared Cook (3 rec, 38 yards) and WR Damian Williams (3 rec, 33 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Titans today.  The Titans finished up with 202 yards rushing on 35 carries (5.8 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 34 passes (55.9%) for 150 yards as they had possession of the ball for 33:23.

The Titans forced five turnovers today on D and it was a HUGE reason for the win.  LBs Colin McCarthy (10 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and Akeem Ayers (8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Titans on D in this game.  DT Jurrell Casey (5 tackles and 1 fumble recovery) and DE Dave Ball (4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) also had solid games for the Titans today.  CBs Cortland Finnegan and Jason McCourty each pitched in with one fumble recovery apiece.  The Buccaneers finished up with 122 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 33 passes (54.5%) for 186 yards today.  The Titans are now 6-5 on the season.

Atlanta Falcons 23, Tennessee Titans 17

The Titans looked like they were sleepwalking until Matt Hasselbeck injured his forearm.  Jake Locker revived the team and he almost brought them all the way back in this game.  Hasselbeck completed 13 of 25 passes for 124 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 17 yards in this game.  Jake Locker was sharp as he completed 9 of 19 passes for 140 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 11 yards in this game.  Chris Johnson had another rough game as he rushed for 13 yards on 12 carries (1.1 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 15 yards (5.0 avg).  WR Nate Washington led the way in the passing game for the Titans with 9 grabs for 115 yards (12.8 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  TE Jared Cook pitched in with 5 grabs for 51 yards (10.2 avg) yesterday.  The Titans finished up with 41 yards rushing on 14 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 44 passes (50%) for 257 yards as they had possession of the ball for 23:01.

The defense played pretty poor for the Titans yesterday.  LB Colin McCarthy (10 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss) and CB Jason McCourty (7 tackles) led the way for the defense yesterday.  LB Will Witherspoon pitched in with 2 tackles and a big fumble recovery in this game.  The Falcons finished up with 116 yards rushing on 36 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 32 passes (68.8%) for 316 yards in this game.  The Titans are now 5-5 on the year.

The Titans got things started right away yesterday as Marc Mariani returned a punt 79 yards for a TD early in the first quarter and that set the tone for them, as they never looked back.  Matt Hasselbeck was effective as he completed 15 of 27 passes for 219 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 21 yards in this game.  Chris Johnson came back to life yesterday in a big way as he rushed for 130 yards on 27 carries (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 4 passes for 44 yards (11.0 avg) in this game.  Javon Ringer pitched in with 19 yards rushing on 6 carries (3.2 ypc) in this game.  Rookie WR Damian Williams enjoyed a true breakout game for the Titans with 5 grabs for 107 yards (21.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Nate Washington pitched in with 3 grabs for 40 yards (13.3 avg) in this game.  The Titans finished up with 172 yards rushing on 35 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 27 passes (55.6%) for 211 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:36.

The defense was very solid for the Titans as they sacked Cam Newton five times yesterday.  LBs Colin McCarthy (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) and Akeem Ayers (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Titans’ D in this game.  CB Jason McCourty (7 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) and safety Chris Hope (interception) also had a big impact for the D yesterday.  The Panthers finished up with 113 yards rushing on 19 carries (5.9 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 40 passes (57.5%) for 166 yards in this game.  The Titans are now 5-4 on the season.

Cincinnati Bengals 24, Tennessee Titans 17

The Titans blew a 17-7 lead at the half as the Bengals pushed them around in the 3rd and 4th quarters yesterday.  Matt Hasselbeck was solid as he completed 24 of 41 passes for 272 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Chris Johnson pitched in with 64 yards rushing on 14 carries (4.6 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 46 yards (11.5 avg).  WR Lavelle Hawkins (5 rec, 63 yards, TD), TE Jared Cook (4 rec, 47 yards) and WR Damian Williams (4 rec, 34 yards, TD) led the way for the Titans in the passing game.  The Titans finished up with 78 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 41 passes (58.5%) for 250 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:05.

The defense was so-so for the Titans yesterday.  Safety Jordan Babineaux (10 tackles, 1 pass defensed), CB Jason McCourty (8 tackles) and CB Alterraun Verner (7 tackles) led the way for the Titans’ D in this game.  The Bengals finished up with 109 yards rushing on 30 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 39 passes (56.4%) for 210 yards.  The Titans are now 4-4 on the season.

The Tennessee Titans dominated the Colts yesterday, plain and simple.  Matt Hasselbeck was very efficient yesterday as he completed 23 of 33 passes for 224 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Javon Ringer led the way on the ground for the Titans in this game with 60 yards rushing on 14 carries (4.3 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 42 yards (8.4 avg).  Chris Johnson had another rough game as he only carried the ball 14 times for 34 yards (2.4 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 17 yards (5.7 avg).  WR Damian Williams (4 rec, 60 yards) and TE Jared Cook (2 rec, 40 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Titans yesterday.  Nate Washington caught 4 passes for 34 yards (8.5 avg) and he also ran the ball 1 time for 3 yards for a TD in this game.  The Titans finished up with 96 yards rushing on 31 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 33 passes (69.7%) for 215 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:28.

The defense gave up a lot yards yesterday, but not many points….and that’s what really counts.  CB Jason McCourty led the way for the D yesterday with 8 tackles, 1 pass defensed and he recovered a blocked punt for a TD!  CB Cortland Finnegan (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and safety Jordan Babineaux (7 tackles and 1 pass defensed) also had solid games yesterday for the Titans.  LB Barrett Ruud and safety Michael Griffin pitched in with 1 interception apiece in this game.  The Colts finished up with 158 yards rushing on 26 carries (6.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 49 passes (53.1%) for 241 yards in this game.  The Titans are now 4-3 on the season.
