The Titans have signed 30-year old linebacker Jamie Winborn.  Winborn played in all 16 games for the Broncos last season and he made 99 tackles, defensed 11 passes and he had 1/2 a sack.  He has now played in 92 games in his NFL career and he has made 340 tackles, defensed 27 passes, has 10 sacks, forced 5 fumbles and he has 3 interceptions.  The Titans better hope that Winborn is ready to contribute right away due to the season ending injuries to David Thornton and Keith Bulluck.

The Tennessee Titans sign WR/KR Chris Davis

The Tennessee Titans have brought back WR/KR Chris Davis due to the injury to Mark Jones.  Davis played in 17 games in 2007-2008 with the Titans and he caught 7 passes for 69 yards (9.9 avg).  The reason that the Titans brought him back however was his special teams play.  He has returned 33 punts for 299 yards (9.1 avg) and 6 kickoffs for 156 yards (26.0 avg) in his career and those are the roles he will likely fill with the Titans.  The Titans released CB Cary Williams to make room on the roster for Davis.  Williams played in 4 games this season for the Titans and he made 12 tackles and defensed 1 pass for them.  The Titans will likely re-sign Williams to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

UPDATE:  The Titans have cut Chris Davis after only three days as they like Alvin Pearman better to return kicks and punts.

The Tennessee Titans sign RB/KR/PR Alvin Pearman

The Titans have signed 27-year old running back Alvin Pearman.  Pearman played in 1 game for the Jaguars last season and he caught 1 pass for 23 yards.  Pearman will replace Javon Ringer as the #3 RB and he will immediately replace Mark Jones as the kickoff returner and punt returner.  Pearman has now played in 27 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 58 times for 238 yards (4.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he has also caught 36 passes for 276 yards (7.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Pearman is a solid special teams player so he will help the Titans there.  He has returned 81 punts for 693 yards (8.6 avg) and he has also returned 14 kickoffs for 314 yards (22.4 avg) in his career.  This was a good signing for the Titans as Pearman will help them in many roles starting this weekend against his old team…..the Jaguars.

The Tennessee Titans sign another QB

The Titans have signed John David Booty to the practice squad and he will serve as the #3 QB on the Titans.  This might be the kind of move that leads to a switch to Vince Young at QB as Booty is a younger player who could be a long term backup for the Titans.  It’s possible that the Titans could consider cutting Kerry Collins and going with youth at QB although I think that would be a huge mistake as Booty doesn’t have any game experience.

The Tennessee Titans sign CB Rod Hood

The Titans have signed 28-year old CB Rod Hood.  Hood played in 15 games for the Cardinals last season and he made 40 tackles, defensed 14 passes, forced a fumble and he picked off a pass.  Hood has now played in 87 games in his NFL career and he has made 218 tackles, he has defensed 63 passes, has 1 sack, forced 2 fumbles and he has picked off 11 passes (he has returned 2 for TDs).  Hood could also help the Titans out on special team as he has returned 53 kickoffs for 1,236 yards (23.3 avg) in his career.  This was a good signing for the Titans as they need healthy players in the secondary.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting soon for the Titans.
