The Tennessee Titans sign four veterans to future/reserve contracts

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Saturday 7 January 2012 at 4:04 am

The Titans have signed four players to future/reserve contracts.  Two of the players are defensive and the other two are special teams players.  26-year old DE Keyunta Dawson is  the only player of this bunch that played in the NFL this year.  He played in 2 games for the Lions in which he made 1 tackle.  Dawson has now played in 60 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 114 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 5 fumble recoveries and 2 passes defensed.  24-year old safety Al Afalava did not play in 2011.  He has played in 17 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 57 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 7 passes defensed.  27-year old WR/KR/PR Darius Reynaud also took a year off in 2011.  He has played in 23 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has returned 53 punts for 440 yards (8.3 avg) and he has also returned 33 kickoffs for 677 yards (20.5 avg).  26-year old long snapper Jake Ingram has also been signed by the Titans.  He has played in 25 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the NFL.  This looks like a decent start on improving the depth on the team for the 2012 season.

The Tennessee Titans sign WR Donnie Avery

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 29 September 2011 at 3:17 pm

The Titans have signed 27-year old WR Donnie Avery.  Avery missed all of last season due to a knee injury.  He has played in 31 games in his first 3 years in the NFL and he has caught 100 passes for 1,263 yards (12.6 avg) with 8 TD grabs.  Avery also carried the ball 14 times for 99 yards (7.1 ypc) with 1 TD run in this career so far.  When healthy, Avery is a solid WR, so I like this low risk/high reward signing for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans sign Kevin Curtis

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Saturday 27 August 2011 at 12:24 pm

The Titans have signed 33-year old WR Kevin Curtis.  Curtis played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Dolphins last year and he caught 1 pass for 6 yards.  He has now played in 81 games (36 starts) in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has caught 253 passes for 3,297 yards (13.0 avg) with 20 TD grabs.  Curtis has also carried the ball 9 times for 39 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run so far in his NFL career.  This was a good move for the Titans.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Titans have waived Kevin Curtis who recently broke a bone in his hand.

The Tennessee Titans sign OT Adam Terry

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,General by admin on Tuesday 16 August 2011 at 2:49 pm

The Titans have signed 28-year old OT Adam Terry.  Terry played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Jaguars and Chargers last season.  He has now played in 50 games (18 starts) in his first five years in the NFL.  Terry will provide the Titans nice depth on the offensive line because he’s capable of playing either tackle or guard.  This was a nice signing for the Titans.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Titans have released Adam Terry.

The Tennessee Titans sign safety Anthony Smith

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 9 August 2011 at 9:11 pm

The Titans have signed 27-year old safety Anthony Smith.  Smith played in 7 games for the Jaguars last year and he had 22 tackles, 1 interception and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 63 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 165 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 16 passes defensed and 7 interceptions.  The Titans hope that Smith’s game catches up to his trash talking, because if that happens the Titans will have a Pro Bowl safety on their hands.

The Tennessee Titans sign G/T Pat McQuistan

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 8 August 2011 at 7:19 pm

The Tennesse Titans have signed 28-year old G/T Pat McQuistan.  McQuistan played in 16 games (8 starts) for the Dolphins last year.  He has now played in 56 games (8 starts) in his first five years in the NFL.  McQuistan’s versatility will likely help the Titans’ O-Line in 2011.  I like this move for the Titans.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Titans have waived Pat McQuistan.

The Tennessee Titans sign safety Jordan Babineaux

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 5 August 2011 at 2:40 pm

The Titans have signed 28-year old safety Jordan Babineaux to a 1-year deal.  Babineaux played in all 16 games for the Seahawks last year and he had 46 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 interceptions and 8 passes defensed.  He has now played in 99 games in his first seven years in the NFL and he has 411 tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 32 passes defensed and 10 interceptions (one returned for a TD).  Babineaux will give the Titans solid veteran depth at safety and he will likely also help out on special teams in 2011.

The Tennessee Titans sign CB Frank Walker

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 4 August 2011 at 2:31 pm

The Titans have signed 29-year old cornerback Frank Walker.  Walker played in 11 games for the Vikings last year and he had 22 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  He has now played in 93 games in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has 156 tackles, 31 passes defensed, 8 interceptions (one returned for a TD), 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Titans needed more depth at corner due to the injury to Ryan Mouton.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Titans have released Frank Walker.

The Tennessee Titans sign TE Daniel Graham

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 2 August 2011 at 12:35 am

The Titans have signed 32-year old TE Daniel Graham to a 3-year, $8.5 million dollar deal.  Graham played in 16 games (all starts) with the Broncos last year and he caught 18 passes for 148 yards (8.2 avg).  He has now played in 126 games (110 starts) in his first 9 years in the NFL and he has caught 222 passes for 2,465 (11.1 avg) with 24 TD grabs.  Graham could wind up being the Titans’ starting TE this season, but I’m not so sure that is a good thing.

The Tennessee Titans sign LB Barrett Ruud

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 1 August 2011 at 4:16 pm

The Titans have signed 28-year old inside linebacker Barrett Ruud to a 1-year deal.  Ruud played in all 16 games for the Buccaneers last year and he had 118 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 4 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Ruud has now played in 95 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 585 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 20 passes defensed and 6 interceptions.  Barrett Ruud is a tackling machine so I like this signing for the Titans.
