The Tennessee Titans select WR Damian Williams in the 3rd round
The Titans have selected WR Damian Williams out of USC with the 77th overall pick (3rd round) of the NFL Draft. Williams is a big guy at 6’1″, 195 pounds and he has long legs eating up a lot of real estate with every stride. He is not a speed burner but he has great hands and a nice array of moves. He doesn’t offer much effort in run blocking but that’s not a problem when Chris Johnson is the back with the ball in his hands. Williams played in 12 games (11 starts) for USC last season in which he caught 70 passes for 1,010 yards (14.4 avg) with 6 TD grabs. Williams played in 38 games (25 starts) in three years in college (1 with Arkansas) in which he caught 147 passes for 2,114 yards (14.4 avg) with 17 TD grabs. Head Coach Jeff Fisher was certainly happy with this pick as he said he wouldn’t be surprised at all if Williams were the Titans’ #1 WR in 2010. Williams also can return punts which adds to his overall value. This was another good pick by the Titans.
