The Titans had a hard time beating the 2nd string of the Colts but they earned a playoff spot and a rematch with the Chargers.  Vince Young was injured in the 3rd quarter of this game and he didn’t return.  He completed 14 of 18 passes for 157 yards and he also carried the ball 4 times for 19 yards (4.8 ypc) but he only put 7 points on the board.  Kerry Collins replaced Young in the game and led them to victory.  Collins completed 10 of 13 passes for 106 yards.  LenDale White (16 car, 45 yards) and Chris Brown (7 car, 22 yards, TD) couldn’t find much running room against the Colts defense.  WRs Justin Gage (7 rec, 104 yards) and Roydell Williams (6 rec, 59 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Titans.  The Titans finished up with 98 yards rushing on 39 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 31 passes for 258 yards.

David Thornton led the defense with 7 tackles against his ex-team.  The Colts finished up with 46 yards rushing on 10 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 40 passes for 148 yards.

The Titans grinded out a tough victory and they will make the playoffs if they can beat the Colts in Indianapolis next week.  Vince Young had another sub-par game as he completed 12 of 22 passes for 166 yards with a interception.  He also carried the ball 7 times for only 1 yard (0.1 ypc).  LenDale White had another solid game as he carried the football 23 times for 103 yards (4.5 ypc).  The Titans finished up with 127 yards rushing on 36 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 22 passes for 146 yards.

The Titans Defense was led by Kyle Vanden Bosch (11 tackles, 3 sacks), Stephen Tulloch (10 tackles) and David Thornton (9 tackles).  The Jets finished with 68 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 32 passes for 228 yards.

Tennessee Titans 26, Kansas City Chiefs 17

The Titans were down late in the third quarter in this game before Vince Young and the offense took over!  Vince Young completed 16 of 26 passes for 191 yards with 2 TD passes and he also carried the football 7 times for 32 yards (4.6 ypc).  LenDale White carried the load in the running game with 93 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.9 ypc).  Roydell Williams had an outstanding game as he led all Titans’ receivers with 94 yards receiving on 4 grabs (23.5 avg) with 2 TD catches.  The Titans finished up with 148 yards rushing on 36 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 26 passes for 179 yards.

The Titans defense was led by 4 players who finished with 10 or more tackles.  They were Stephen Tullock (11 tackles), Keith Bulluck (10 tackles), David Thornton (10 tackles, interception) and Cortland Finnegan (10 tackles).  The Chiefs finished up with 89 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 43 passes for 217 yards.

Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Both of these teams are ice cold right now.  The Titans have lost 4 of their last 5 games as they have been outscored 140-84 in those games.  The Chiefs have lost six games in a row and they have been outscored 158-77 in those games.

The Titans whole gameplan on offense revolves around the running game which should be effective against a Chiefs’ Defense that is allowing 123.5 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry.  The Titans need to be effective running the ball to give Vince Young a chance to have time to throw the football because DE Jared Allen (11.5 sacks) has been outstanding for the Chiefs this year.

The Chiefs will likely have no choice but to air the ball out in this game if Kolby Smith (ankle) can’t go.  Gilbert Harris would take over as the starter at running back and the Titans only allow 98.1 yards rushing per game this season.  Brodie Croyle should throw the ball short to negate the pass rush of the Titans.  That means TE Tony Gonzalez should have a good football game.

PREDICTION:  KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 17, TENNESSEE TITANS 16

The Titans choked down the stretch in this football game and it dropped them to 7-6 on the season.  Vince Young played another horrible football game as he completed 13 of 21 passes for 121 yards with 2 picks.  LenDale White was the best player on the offense yesterday for the Titans as he carried the ball 30 times for 113 yards (3.8 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 24 yards.  Chris Brown pitched in with 5 carries for 16 yards (3.2 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 11 yards.  The Titans finished up with 131 yards rushing on 37 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 24 passes for 109 yards.

DE Kyle Vanden Bosch led the defense for the Titans as he had 8 tackles and 3 sacks.  Safeties Calvin Lowry and Michael Griffin each had 7 tackles and a interception in this game.  The Chargers finished up with 148 yards rushing on 30 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 42 passes for 193 yards.
