Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, This Week's Matchup Report, Front Page by squarebettor on Thursday 13 September 2007 at 3:16 pm

This is a key battle in the AFC South Division. The Colts rolled in their season opener 41-10 over the Saints while the Titans stunned the Jaguars 13-10 in Jacksonville. The Titans and Colts split games last season with each team winning on their own turf. The Titans beat the Colts last season in Tennessee by pushing the Colts around as they rushed for 219 yards. The Titans will try to run the football and control the clock against the Colts. They ran the ball 49 times for 282 yards (5.8 ypc) last week against the Jaguars are they held onto the football for 36:55 of the football game! Look for Chris Brown (175 yards, 9.2 ypc) and LenDale White (66 yards rushing) to provide the muscle behind a solid offensive line. QB Vince Young will also take off as he rushed for 22 yards and had a TD run last week. If the Colts can’t stop the running game of the Titans it could be a long day for them this Sunday.Â

The Colts will likely come out throwing the ball against the Titans to try to get a quick lead and take the Titans out of their game plan. Peyton Manning was excellent as always against the Saints last week as he completed 18 of 30 passes for 288 yards with 3 TDs and 0 pickoffs. Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison will cause huge match up problems for the Titans corners who will likely need help from the safeties. That might not be easy for the Titans to do because TE Dallas Clark and WR Anthony Gonzalez could be lining up in the slot. And if the Titans defense didn’t already have enough to worry about don’t forget 2nd year running back Joseph Addai who had 143 combined yards rushing and receiving last week (he also scored a TD).

PREDICTION: This will be a close football game but I have to side with the Colts by a field goal in this one. I wouldn’t be surprised though if the Titans pulled an upset here because they play the Colts tough and they are the more physical team.

im really gettin sick of everyone saying the colts this the colts are gonna win. shut up. didnt u watch the game last yeae the colts arent good on the road dont get me wrong their offense is brilliant but they ranked dead last in run defense and the way chris brown ran all over jacksonville will be the same against this not so good indy d. yea i know their defending superbowl; champs and always favored to win the afc crown but this year will be different i promise u that the titans will not only go to the playoffs but they will win the afc sout. if you look at this conference in 4th place will be the houston texans i bet the texans would love to go back in time and regret they ever picked mario willioams matt cshuab will be better than carr but they still have the same offf line. good luck kubiak trying to make ur team better. 3rd place the jacksonville jaguars wow for two reasons one how my boy chris brown ran rugshoud all over the jags defense. thats right the jags de gave up 175 yards to brown and the second wow is how they release their former franchise qb byron leftwitch now the jags will be left out of the playoffs good job jack sellwitch. 2nd place we have yes the indy colts look as i said before the colts are good offensively everyone no it i know it, but they lost to many players on defense 5 former colts are now titans and i think with them having experience with the colts will pose a problem for indy manning will be maning but the defending champs will finish second place and will not repaet as champs well that leaves the tennesee titans to win the afc south. everyones says that vince has a burden on his shoulder yes its true we lost henry we lost bennet pacman i know tht but didnt u see the way chris brown did against the jags? cmon now we have two of the maost talented backs in the league vince is copming off his rookie of the year campaign and will lead the titans to the playoffs, listen listen when the titans go to the playoffs this year dont expect them to crumble in the first round thats right. ive been saying this quote since the 2007 nfl draft. “i truly and honestly believe that the 2007 season is going to be the year of the titans’ when the titans do it all silence will be broken and we will claim our trophy that we came up short for in superbowl xxiv. vince will be the superbowl mvp. so the the title of the season is the titans wont come up short this season.

Ok diehard titan fan, was that whole post you wrote suppose to be a joke? Either way, it made me crack up laughing! First off, I could barely read it. Have you ever heard of a period? Secondly, the Colts are going to run away with this division. The Titans don’t have a prayer in the world to win the AFC South. You said that the Titans have former Colts players and will give Manning problems..thats a joke. Did you see the Saints former Colt Jason David have his way with the Colts? If you have watched the NFL at all, you should know that our defense is not even close to the same D the Titans played last year. We are faster and more physical than ever! Oh yeah, we also have Bob Sanders…not to bad. Besides that, we have the best quarterback in the history of the NFL. So I’m gonna go ahead and save you time tommorrow, save your tears and don’t watch the game, because the Colts will win by at LEAST 20. Oh yeah, and you will be lucky to get into the playoffs. Dude, it’s the Titans.

Well, both of you guys were a little off. The Colts surely didn’t win the game by more than 20 points Colts Fan as they had to fight to the end to win the game. Diehard, I really don’t think the Titans are a playoff team. They will lose every game that they can’t run the ball effectively because Vince Young and his receivers scare no one in the passing game.
