The Tennessee Titans re-sign TE Ben Hartsock

Blogged under Bloglockers, Breaking News, Front Page by squarebettor on Thursday 26 April 2007 at 4:39 pm

The Titans have re-signed TE Ben Hartsock to a 1-year contract. He played in 6 games (3 starts) for the Titans last season and he caught 6 passes for 68 yards (11.3 avg). Hartsock is mostly a blocker in the running game for the Titans because of his size (6′4″, 255) but look for them to use him a little bit more on short passes over the middle of the field.

The Tennessee Titans re-sign Randy Starks and Eugene Amano

Blogged under Bloglockers, Breaking News, Front Page by squarebettor on Wednesday 18 April 2007 at 3:04 pm

The Titans have resigned DT Randy Starks and C Eugene Amano. Starks might get a chance to start for the Titans this season and he earned that chance by playing well last season for them. Starks played in all 16 games for the Titans last season and he made 40 tackles, had 3 sacks and recovered 2 fumbles. Amano played in all 16 games for the Titans last season too even though he only started 1 of them. In his three year NFL career, Amano has played in 47 games but only has started 3 of them. The 6′3″, 310 pound center helps the Titans as he’s a decent backup player for them.

The Tennessee Titans are on the clock……………

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL. If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site. This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Titans need to get Vince Young more weapons on offense and the Titans also need help all over their defense. With that in mind, here’s who I think the Titans will select on Draft Day:

1. (19)Â Dwyane Bowe, WR, LSU

2. (50)Â Victor Abiamiri, DE, Notre Dame

3. (80)Â Brandon Jackson, RB, Nebraska

4. (115)Â Kenny Scott, CB, Georgia Tech

4. (128)Â Rhema McKnight, WR, Notre Dame

5. (152)Â Eric Frampton, S, Washington State

6. (188)Â Dan Mozes, C, West Virginia

6. (204)Â Nathan Bennett, OG, Clemson

6. (206)Â Gary Russell, RB, Minnesota

7. (223)Â Dante Rosario, TE, Oregon

Bowe will likely step right in and be the #1 WR for the Titans. Jackson and Russell were needed additions to the Titans because it’s unlikely they completely trust LenDale White with the starting job at RB. The Titans would be pleased if the Draft shook out this way and they got these football players.

Adam “Pac Man” Jones suspended for the whole 2007 NFL season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Breaking News, Front Page by squarebettor on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 10:10 am

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell lowered the boom on Pac Man Jones and suspended him for the entire 2007 season without pay. The NFL proved that it is serious about cleaning up the NFL’s image off of the field by trying to stop players from acting like fools on their off-time. The Players’ Union will no doubt try to get this ruling overturned, but they really have no chance because players have an off-field conduct policy written in all of their contracts.Â

The Titans might have to consider drafting a kick returner and a cornerback in the draft to replace Jones on the field. He played in 15 games last season for the Titans and he made 62 tackles, had a sack, intercepted 4 passes and returned them 130 yards including one for a TD, forced a fumble and recovered 2 fumbles. Jones returned 20 kickoffs for 521 yards (26.1 avg) and 34 punts for 440 yards (12.9 avg) with 3 TDs. He even played a little bit of offense as he carried the football 2 times for 8 yards and he caught 2 passes for 31 yards. Simply stated, Pac Man will be hard to replace on the field of play.

The hard part for “Pac Man” Jones is that he will have to behave in his year away from football and stay in shape without supervision from the Titans. Will he succeed? Only time will tell.
