Vince Young improving

Vince Young will ensure that the Titans won’t be down long. Many thought that the Titans were going to draft Matt Leinart because of the connections on the Titans coaching staff (Norm Chow used to be his offensive co-ordinator at USC), but the Titans made Vince Young the pick. Many wondered how Vince Young’s game would convert to the NFL and it was slow at the start. Young has been passing much better lately and has run the ball well all season long. Young has played in 11 games (9 starts) and has completed 129 of 257 passes (50.2%) for 1,486 yards passing with 10 TDs and 10 INTs. Young has also carried the ball 62 times for 372 yards (6.0 ypc) and 4 TDs.

The sky is the limit for Vince Young as he’s looking alot like the guy he replaced….Steve McNair.

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans

The Titans are on fire as they’ve won 3 games in a row. The Texans have also played better lately as they’ve won 2 of their last 4 games.

Look for the Titans to run the football alot against the Texans, as the Texans are allowing 116.0 yards rushing and 4.2 yards per carry so far this season. Travis Henry (849 yards rushing), Vince Young and LenDale White should find running room. The Texans do have a poor pass defense (227.9 net yards passing per game), but the Titans are not really equipped to take advantage of that.

The Texans also will probably attempt to run the ball with Ron Dayne and Wali Lundy against the Titans who allow 143.8 yards rushing and 4.5 yards per carry. If David Carr has time to throw, he will do some serious damage to the Titans defense. The Titans are allowing 231.0 net yards passing per game so far this season. Andre Johnson (85 rec, 991 yards) and Eric Moulds should get their yards.

This should be a good football game. I think David Carr is going to play a great game and help lead the Texans to a close victory.

Titans prevail in last seconds over Colts 20-17

Rob Bironas hit a 60-yard FG with 7 seconds left in the football game to seal a huge victory over the Colts.Â

Vince Young was outstanding again, completing 15 of 25 passes for 163 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Young also carried the ball 9 times for 78 yards (8.7 ypc). Travis Henry was a bull out on the field as he carried the ball 20 times for 93 yards (4.7 ypc). LenDale White added 4 carries for 35 yards (8.8 ypc). Drew Bennett and Brandon Jones each caught a TD pass.

David Thornton (14 tackles) and Keith Bulluck (12 tackles, INT) led the way on the defense of the Titans. The Titans held the Colts to 100 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.4 ypc). The Colts completed 21 of 28 passes for 351 net yards passing.

This was a huge win for the young Titans.

Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts rebounded last week from their first loss of the season and thrashed the Philadelphia Eagles 45-21. The Titans have won two games in a row and might be riding a wave of emotion after their unbelievable comeback win last week against the Giants.

Look for the Colts to run the ball at the start of the game. Joseph Addai (789 yards rushing) and Dominic Rhodes (482 yards rushing) should have no problem racking up yards against the porous Titans run defense. The Titans are allowing 147.7 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry. Peyton Manning will take his shots down the field against the Titans defense that is allowing 220.1 net yards passing per game. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne could both have huge games this week.

The Titans rushed for 214 yards as a team the last time the Colts and Titans hooked up. Look for the Titans to have a similar gameplan this week. The Colts allow 154.5 yards rushing per game and 4.9 yards per carry, so Travis Henry (756 yards rushing) and Vince Young (295 yards rushing) could each have big days as the Titans try to play keep away from the Colts offense.

I think this game will be a close one like the first one these two played (Colts won 14-13). I have to side with the Colts, because Manning should have a good game.
