Tennessee Titans lose WR for the season

David Givens will miss the remainder of the football season with a torn ACL. Givens has been a free-agent bust for the Titans as he only caught 8 passes this season. Brandon Jones will take over in the starting line-up for Givens.

Tennessee Titans welcome back DT

The Titans have reinstated Albert Haynesworth from his suspension for stomping on a Cowboys lineman’s head. The Titans really can use the help along the D-Line, because they’ve allowed 150.9 yards rushing and 4.8 yards per carry this season. Hopefully, Haynesworth will behave and just play football because the Titans need him.

Titans fold in the second half and lose 27-26 to Ravens

The Titans played one great half and one bad half of football. The Titans built up a 26-17 halftime lead but were shutout 10-0 in the second half. Vince Young took the Titans on a last minute drive to set up a game-winning field goal, but Rob Bironas had his kick blocked on the last play of the game.

Vince Young played pretty well today against a tough Ravens defense. Young completed 13 of 25 passes for 211 yards and an interception. Young also ran the ball 8 times for 39 yards (4.9 ypc) and a TD. Travis Henry had a good game with 27 carries for 107 yards (4.0 ypc) and a TD. Drew Bennett had a solid game with 6 receptions for 115 yards. TE Bo Scaife caught 2 passes for 48 yards and also had one carry….a 13-yard TD run.

The safeties were busy for the Titans as Chris Hope had 8 tackles and Lamont Thompson had 3 tackles and 2 interceptions. Rookie LB Stephen Tulloch had a good game with 8 tackles. The Titans did an excellent job against the Ravens running game holding them to 50 yards rushing on 21 carries (2.4 ypc). The Titans had a rough time with Steve McNair as the Ravens connected on 29 of 47 passes for 371 net yards passing.

The young Titans deserved to win this football game, but they learned a valuable lesson today…..you have to play two halves of good football to win a game.

Reserve LB out for season

Robert Reynolds has been placed on Injured Reserve with a quadriceps injury ending his season. This will hurt the special teams more than the defense.

Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens

Blogged under This Week's Matchup Report, Front Page by leoquijano on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 3:29 pm
The Baltimore Ravens have won their last two games and sit on top of the AFC North with a two game lead on the division at 6-2. They can’t afford to overlook the Titans this week. The Titans have won 2 of their last three games, but they got thrashed 37-7 last week by the Jaguars.

Look for the Ravens to run the ball early and often against the putrid run defense of the Titans that is allowing 163.5 yards rushing per game and 5.0 yards per carry. Jamal Lewis (533 yards rushing) has looked better after Brian Billick assumed the play calling duties and he should have a huge game. Don’t think that Billick will be content to just run the ball though, because Steve McNair probably really wants to stick it to the Titans after how he was treated there before he was traded to the Ravens! McNair has been solid the last two weeks and he likes to spread the ball around to his receivers. Look for Todd Heap (34 rec, 366 yards), Mark Clayton (34 rec, 377 yards) and Derrick Mason (31 rec, 397 yards) to all get their yards. Also, look for McNair to try his best to hook up with Mason on a TD, just to twist the knife on the Titans.

I feel bad for Vince Young already. The Titans love to run the ball and will try their best to establish the running game this week. Travis Henry (479 yards rushing) has played well this season, but the Ravens are only allowing 69.3 yards rushing per game and 2.9 yards per carry, so every yard Henry gets will be a tough one. The Ravens already have 23 sacks and 17 interceptions this season so it looks like Vince Young will have a long day on Sunday.

If the Ravens are focused, this game will be over by halftime. I just don’t see Vince Young making any big plays against this defense.
