Tennessee Titans QBs

Benching Kerry Collins and playing Vince Young was the right move at the right time for the Titans. With Young running the offense, the Titans have become a running team. That was done to protect Young so that he can grow at a slow pace and not get discouraged. Young has only completed 46.0% of his passes for 762 yards with 5 TDs and 7 INTs. Young only has a QB rating of 53.3 which is pathetic, but he’s learning as he goes and should get better with experience. Vince is a good runner as he has carried the ball 29 times for 137 yards (4.7 ypc) and 2 TDs.

Kerry Collins looked past his sell date as a NFL starting QB. He has played awful and it got him benched. Kerry completed only 46.7% of his passes for 549 yards with 1 TD and 6 INTs. That works out to a awful 42.3 QB rating. The only way he will see the field again is if Vince Young gets injured.

Titans brought back to earth and pounded 37-7 by Jags

The Titans played a putrid football game in Jacksonville today. Vince Young regressed on the field today, completing 15 of 36 passes for 163 yards with 1 TD and 3 INT. One of Young’s pick-offs was returned 55 yards for a TD by Scott Starks. Young also ran the ball 4 times for 14 yards. Travis Henry carried the ball 19 times for 67 yards (3.5 ypc). LenDale White got the ball 7 times for 25 yards (3.6 ypc). TE Bo Scaife caught 5 passes for 70 yards to lead the Titans in receiving. Drew Bennett caught 3 passes for 51 yards and a TD.

Chris Hope led the defense with 8 tackles. The Jaguars pushed the Titans around in the running game, carrying the ball 30 times for 173 yards (5.8 ypc). The Jags only attempted 22 passes, completing 12 for 169 net yards passing…..but 3 of the passes went for TDs.

Titans vs. Jaguars

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week\'s Matchup Report by leoquijano on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 8:54 am

The Titans are on a two game winning streak, but they’ve been winning with smoke & mirrors!  The Jags rebounded from a beating at the hands of the Houston Texans and won on the road in Philadelphia.Â

The Titans whole offense since Vince Young has become QB has revolved around the running game. Travis Henry (412 yards rushing) has been very good of late but the Jaguars have a very good defense that allows 96.7 yards rushing and 3.7 yards a carry, so every yard will be a tough one. If the Titans have trouble running the ball, the competitive part of this game could be over quickly. The Jaguars secondary already has picked off 9 passes and they are a very physical unit that tries to intimidate the offense.Â

The Jaguars are going to start David Garrard again this week which means they will be running the football. The Titans have the second worst run defense in the NFL, as they allow 162.1 yards rushing per game and 4.9 yards per carry. Fred Taylor (554 yards rushing) and Maurice Drew (264 yards rushing) should have little problem getting their yards and controlling the clock for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars should win a low-scoring game, because their defense is better equipped to shut down the Titans running game and make Vince Young make mistakes.

Adam “Pac Man” Jones suspended

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 8:44 am

The Titans suspended Pac Man Jones for his off the field conduct. Jones reportedly spit in a woman’s face who has brought charges against him. Coach Fisher likes his players to act like men off the field and endorsed the suspension. The Titans will miss Jones on the field after he had probably his best game as a pro last week. Jones had 7 tackles, an interception and returned a punt 53 yards for a TD in their 28-22 win over the Texans!
