Vince Young leads amazing comeback in 24-21 victory over Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Monday 27 November 2006 at 2:30 am

The Titans scored 24 un-answered points in the final 9:35 of the football game. Vince Young was on fire as he completed 24 of 35 passes for 249 yards and 2 TDs. Young also carried the ball 10 times for 69 yards (6.9 ypc) and a TD. Travis Henry had a tough time as he carried the ball 12 times for 27 yards (2.3 ypc) and caught 3 passes for 24 yards. Bobby Wade led the receivers with 6 catches for 83 yards. Brandon Jones caught 4 passes for 38 yards and a TD. Drew Bennett chipped in with 3 catches for 35 yards. Bo Scaife caught 5 passes for 34 yards and a TD.

The Titans defense had big trouble trying to stop the Giants running game as they carried the ball 36 times for 144 yards (4.0 ypc). The Giants completed 18 of 28 passes for 143 net yards passing….but the Titans intercepted them twice.

This was a huge win for the young Titans as they improve to 4-7 on the season.

Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants

The Giants might be feeling a little down after getting their butts kicked two weeks in a row (outscored 64-30)! The Titans are probably feeling pretty good after ruining the Eagles season last week and thrashing them 31-13!

The Giants need to be able to run the ball to be effective on offense. They should have no problem moving the ball on the ground against the Titans who are allowing 148.1 yards rushing per game and 4.7 yards per carry. Tiki Barber (998 yards rushing) and Brandon Jacobs (286 yards rushing, 6 TDs) should have field days against the Titans. Eli Manning needs to get his act together as he has had a QB rating of under 60.0 in 4 consecutive games. The Titans should give him a good chance of getting things right as they allow 227.8 net yards passing per game.

The Titans are all about running the football. Travis Henry is having an outstanding season (729 yards rushing) and Vince Young (225 yards rushing) is a serious threat too. The Giants are allowing 104.2 yards rushing per game and 3.7 yards per carry. The Giants pass defense isn’t that good, but the Titans rarely throw the ball so that probably won’t be a factor.

The Giants are the better football team, but the Titans have shocked some teams so I wouldn’t be surprised if they won the game.

Shockey and the Giants

Blogged under Breaking News by JohnM on Thursday 23 November 2006 at 4:18 pm

OK, this crap pisses me off. Shockey comes out and starts talking about the Cowboys, and that there is no way the Cowboys will beat them. Blah, blah, blah crap coming out of his mouth. Doesn’t he realize that they face us this week! Doesn’t he see the but klicking we just put on the Eagles. I am tired of teams overlooking us. I say V.C. comes out and trashes the Gaints and their over rated QB. Pacman gets a pick, mark it!

Titans thrash the Eagles 31-13 on the road

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Monday 20 November 2006 at 2:45 pm

The Titans had alot of huge plays that swung this game into their favor. Travis Henry had a 70-yard TD run. PacMan Jones returned a punt 90 yards for a TD. LB Keith Bulluck recovered a fumble and returned it 16 yards for a TD. They also put Donovan McNabb out for the season with a torn ACL.

Vince Young only completed 8 of 22 passes for 101 yards and a TD. Young also ran the ball 6 times for 49 yards (8.2 ypc). Travis Henry had a monster game with 18 carries for 143 yards (7.9 ypc) and a TD. Ben Troupe only caught 1 pass, but it was a 14 yard TD.

The defense did what it had to do to limit the Eagles to 13 points, despite giving up alot of yardage. The Eagles carried the football 30 times for 123 yards (4.1 ypc). The Eagles completed 32 of 61 passes for 267 net yards passing.

The Titans played an outstanding game and deserved their third win of the season.

Tennessee Titans vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week\'s Matchup Report by leoquijano on Friday 17 November 2006 at 10:24 pm

The Titans have really played better as of late, but they are still a 2-7 football team. The Eagles are coming off a dominant win over the Washington Redskins.

The Titans will try to run the football with Travis Henry (586 yards rushing) and Vince Young (176 yards rushing) against the soft run defense of the Eagles that has allowed 120.9 yards rushing per game. After the Titans establish the running game, look for them to run some play-action passes with Drew Bennett (494 yards rec.) and TE Bo Scaife being Young’s main targets.

The Eagles will do what they do best, which is throw the football.  Donovan McNabb (2,534 yards passing) has to like what he’s been watching all week in preparation for this football game. The Titans have allowed 223.4 yards passing per game and allow the opposing QBs to have a rating of 95.7 on the season. Look for McNabb to attack them deep with Reggie Brown and Donte’ Stallworth, and short with Brian Westbrook and LJ Smith. The Eagles will run the ball after they build a lead with Westbrook and Buckhalter carrying the load and melting the clock.

The Eagles should thrash the Titans as long as they handle the Titans running game.

Tennessee Titans lose WR for the season

David Givens will miss the remainder of the football season with a torn ACL. Givens has been a free-agent bust for the Titans as he only caught 8 passes this season. Brandon Jones will take over in the starting line-up for Givens.

Tennessee Titans welcome back DT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page by leoquijano on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 10:43 pm

The Titans have reinstated Albert Haynesworth from his suspension for stomping on a Cowboys lineman’s head. The Titans really can use the help along the D-Line, because they’ve allowed 150.9 yards rushing and 4.8 yards per carry this season. Hopefully, Haynesworth will behave and just play football because the Titans need him.

Titans fold in the second half and lose 27-26 to Ravens

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 6:47 pm

The Titans played one great half and one bad half of football. The Titans built up a 26-17 halftime lead but were shutout 10-0 in the second half. Vince Young took the Titans on a last minute drive to set up a game-winning field goal, but Rob Bironas had his kick blocked on the last play of the game.

Vince Young played pretty well today against a tough Ravens defense. Young completed 13 of 25 passes for 211 yards and an interception. Young also ran the ball 8 times for 39 yards (4.9 ypc) and a TD. Travis Henry had a good game with 27 carries for 107 yards (4.0 ypc) and a TD. Drew Bennett had a solid game with 6 receptions for 115 yards. TE Bo Scaife caught 2 passes for 48 yards and also had one carry….a 13-yard TD run.

The safeties were busy for the Titans as Chris Hope had 8 tackles and Lamont Thompson had 3 tackles and 2 interceptions. Rookie LB Stephen Tulloch had a good game with 8 tackles. The Titans did an excellent job against the Ravens running game holding them to 50 yards rushing on 21 carries (2.4 ypc). The Titans had a rough time with Steve McNair as the Ravens connected on 29 of 47 passes for 371 net yards passing.

The young Titans deserved to win this football game, but they learned a valuable lesson today…..you have to play two halves of good football to win a game.

Reserve LB out for season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Disabled LIst by leoquijano on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 1:21 am

Robert Reynolds has been placed on Injured Reserve with a quadriceps injury ending his season. This will hurt the special teams more than the defense.

Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens

Blogged under Front Page,This Week\'s Matchup Report by leoquijano on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 3:29 pm
The Baltimore Ravens have won their last two games and sit on top of the AFC North with a two game lead on the division at 6-2. They can’t afford to overlook the Titans this week. The Titans have won 2 of their last three games, but they got thrashed 37-7 last week by the Jaguars.

Look for the Ravens to run the ball early and often against the putrid run defense of the Titans that is allowing 163.5 yards rushing per game and 5.0 yards per carry. Jamal Lewis (533 yards rushing) has looked better after Brian Billick assumed the play calling duties and he should have a huge game. Don’t think that Billick will be content to just run the ball though, because Steve McNair probably really wants to stick it to the Titans after how he was treated there before he was traded to the Ravens! McNair has been solid the last two weeks and he likes to spread the ball around to his receivers. Look for Todd Heap (34 rec, 366 yards), Mark Clayton (34 rec, 377 yards) and Derrick Mason (31 rec, 397 yards) to all get their yards. Also, look for McNair to try his best to hook up with Mason on a TD, just to twist the knife on the Titans.

I feel bad for Vince Young already. The Titans love to run the ball and will try their best to establish the running game this week. Travis Henry (479 yards rushing) has played well this season, but the Ravens are only allowing 69.3 yards rushing per game and 2.9 yards per carry, so every yard Henry gets will be a tough one. The Ravens already have 23 sacks and 17 interceptions this season so it looks like Vince Young will have a long day on Sunday.

If the Ravens are focused, this game will be over by halftime. I just don’t see Vince Young making any big plays against this defense.
