Titans vs. Cowboys

Blogged under Front Page,This Week\'s Matchup Report by leoquijano on Thursday 28 September 2006 at 8:28 pm

The Cowboys should be able to do anything they want on offense and the Titans will not be able to stop them!

I look for the Cowboys to run right at the Titans weak run defense. The Titans are allowing 163.7 yards on the ground so far this season, so Julius Jones (166 yards) and Marion Barber (52 yards) are probably licking their chops! As soon as the Titans creep up on defense, Bledsoe will go up top to his favorite receiver Terry Glenn (10 rec, 175 yards). Look for Bledsoe to throw alot of short passes to TEs Jason Witten and Anthony Fasano, due to T.O. probably getting the week off.

The Titans have been throwing the ball almost twice as much as they’ve run the ball (113-66). That will have to change if they want to have a chance in this game. What the Titans really need to do is identify a main running back and give him the ball 20+ times. In the passing game, look for the Titans to start using David Givens more to relieve the double coverage on Drew Bennett.

This game has the look of a Cowboy rout!

Titans play tough, but still lose 13-10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Monday 25 September 2006 at 1:45 am

In the NFL there is no such thing as a moral victory. The Titans played tough against the Dolphins playing their best game of the season, but in the end it was just another loss. Kerry Collins completed 19 of 33 passes for 269 yards with a TD and 2 interceptions. RB Travis Henry carried the ball 21 times for 60 yards. WR Drew Bennett caught 5 passes for 84 yards . TE Bo Scaife caught 3 passes for 53 yards and a TD and TE Ben Troupe caught 2 passes for 41 yards. WR David Givens only caught 2 passes for 47 yards and has been a disappointment so far this season.

The Dolphins pounded the Titans on the ground, rushing the ball 37 times for 159 yards (4.3 ypc). The Dolphins also completed 17 of 26 passes for 130 net yards. Safety Chris Hope had 10 tackles and LB David Thornton pitched in 9 tackles.

The Titans played their best game of the year so far, but that’s not saying much.

Titans vs. Dolphins

Everyone knew the Titans weren’t going to be good this year, but many had the Dolphins going to the Super Bowl this season.

Kerry Collins needs to find his WRs Drew Bennett (11 rec., 151 yards) and David Givens against a Dolphin secondary that is allowing a 111.8 QB rating against. The Titans also need to pick one running back and give him the ball. The Titans would be smart to run the ball and keep their defense off the field. The Dolphins allow 125.5 yards rushing per game, so Chris Brown or LenDale White could have some success.

The Titans defense is allowing 443 yards per game. Daunte Culpepper just needs to make better decisions with the ball and quit fumbling. Ronnie Brown should have a break-out game against the Titans defense. Culpepper should be looking for Randy McMichael more on short passes to prevent taking so many sacks. If the line holds up in pass protection, Chris Chambers will have a huge game against the porous Titans’ secondary.

I look for the Dolphins to blow out the Titans in this game.

Billy Volek traded to Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page by leoquijano on Tuesday 19 September 2006 at 12:26 pm

The Titans traded Billy Volek to the Chargers for a conditional 5th or 6th round draft pick in next year’s draft. This move is not a good one for the Titans. Kerry Collins has been awful and Vince Young is not ready if Collins doesn’t pick up his play. At least the Titans will get alot for their #1 pick of the entire draft when they hold the Brady Quinn auction in April.

Titans struck by lightning bolts 40-7

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Monday 18 September 2006 at 7:08 pm

This team is a sad excuse for an NFL football team. At least they’re balanced…no offense, and no defense! Kerry Collins was awful completing 6 of 19 passes (31.6%) for 57 yards and 2 pick-offs. Vince Young completed 7 of 19 passes (36.8%) for 106 yards and a TD, he also ran five times for 24 yards (4.8 ypc). LenDale White carried the ball 8 times for 22 yards (2.8 ypc). Chris Brown carried the ball 6 times for 9 yards (1.5 ypc). TE Bo Scaife caught 3 passes for 53 yards (17.7 avg) and WR Drew Bennett caught 3 passes for 45 yards (15.0 avg) and a TD.

The defense couldn’t stop the run or pass. Don’t blame that on Chris Hope or Keith Bulluck who each had 12 tackles. The Chargers pushed the Titans defense around rushing the ball 37 times for 241 yards (6.5 ypc). The Chargers also lit up the secondary completing 69.4% of their passes for 235 net yards in the air.

Titans vs. Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week\'s Matchup Report by leoquijano on Friday 15 September 2006 at 12:37 am

This is a tough match-up for the Titans. The Titans will try to run the ball with Chris Brown and Travis Henry, to slow the Chargers pass rush that was relentless last week. The Chargers had 9 sacks last week, and when Kerry Collins is forced to throw too early he throws pickoffs. If Collins has time, David Givens and Drew Bennett will get open against the Chargers average corners.

The Chargers will try to do what they did last week, run the ball and protect Philip Rivers from having to make too many tough throws. LaDainian Tomlinson will have a field day against the Titans defense that is week against the run. TE Antonio Gates is a mis-match for the safeties also.

This will be as bad as the Chargers want to make it.

Titans lose 23-16 to Jets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by leoquijano on Monday 11 September 2006 at 7:10 pm

The Titans played very sloppy on offense and it killed them in the end. Kerry Collins completed 17 of 38 passes (44.7%) for 223 yards and 2 pick-offs. Vince Young got his first taste of the NFL, completing 3 of 4 passes for 27 yards and a interception. Chris Brown carried the ball 16 times for 64 yards (4.0 ypc). Travis Henry carried the ball 9 times for 22 yards (2.4 ypc) and 2 TDs. WR Drew Bennett played a good game, catching 8 passes for 106 yards (13.3 avg). Bobby Wade caught 5 passes for 76 yards (15.2 avg).

LB Keith Bulluck was all over the field and had 13 tackles. S Chris Hope also had a good game with 9 tackles. The Titans were tough against the run allowing the Jets to get 91 yards rushing, but only averaging 2.7 yards per carry. The Jets carved up the Titans secondary to the tune of 72.7% completions for 302 net yards passing.

The Titans have alot of work to do if they want to win more games than last season.
